ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson responded to Katherine Heigl’s latest gripe about starring in a hit TV show.
“I think it’s unfortunate,” McPherson told TV critics about her comments. “People are going to behave in the way they choose to behave. There are so many people who work so hard on ‘Grey’s,’ and all of our shows, without any notoriety and those are the ones I’d be concerned about, people who feel like they’re being criticized or looked down upon.”

If you’ve been following this casting hullabaloo on Grey’s Anatomy, which recently included news of Kate Walsh returning to Seattle Grace, you probably know that news of Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight leaving the show spread like wild fire days ago courtesy of fellow cast member James Pickens, only to be denied (vaguely) by creator Shonda Rhimes. Apparently, whether or not Heigl will leave the ABC medical dramedy, the actress has made plans to keep herself busy during off-season, so to speak.
After 27 Dresses and Knocked Up, Heigl will join Ashton Kutcher in the thriller Five Killers as a woman who marries her own McDreamy (or McDenny if you want to be faithful to the Grey’s storyline) while on vacation, only to find out that the couple next door are assassins out to kill her and her husband. Five Killers will be directed by Robert Luketic, whom Heigl worked with in an upcoming romantic comedy The Ugly Truth.
The upcoming project for Heigl will take her to Atlanta and the south of France.

Katherine Heigl and her husband Josh Kelley are planning to adopt a child from South Korea within the next year, according to reports.
The couple has reportedly chosen South Korea because Heigl’s older sister Meg was adopted from the country.
“Meg has had a profound impact on Katherine’s life, which is why she and Josh are trying to adopt a Korean child,” a source tells the National Enquirer. “They’ve chosen an adoption agency and have started filing the necessary paperwork. They haven’t gone public with the news yet because they want to make sure there are no problems before they make an announcement.”

KATHERINE Heigl has voluntarily dropped out of the race for this year’s Emmy Awards, saying that her recent work on hit series Grey’s Anatomy does not merit an award.
The star - who won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Dr. Isobel Stevens in the medical drama last year - insists she doesn’t deserve the award because she wasn’t given good enough storylines.
She told the Los Angeles Times newspaper: “I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organisation, I withdrew my name from contention.

Just weeks after “Grey’s Anatomy” returned with new episodes, sources are saying Katherine Heigl is itching to hang up her scrubs. “She’s working really long hours and is ready to move on,” a source close to the actress told Us Weekly.
Fifteen months ago, Heigl renegotiated her “Grey’s” contract. The net result from that: Because the negotiations went public and she got the raise she wanted from the show, Heigl proved she wasn’t about to become an of-the-moment primetime star. Additionally, Heigl has had tremendous big-screen success with her leading roles in “Knocked Up” and “27 Dresses.”
“She’s a smart one. She saw what can happen with someone like Jennifer Aniston, who was crazy successful on TV, but can’t seem to carry a film, and she tested the waters early,” said a movie industry source.
Even so, Heigl might be locked into “Grey’s” a bit longer. “I don’t think she’ll be able to get out of it,” the US source said of Heigl’s contract. [via]
